Early Years Programme
(Nursery- LKG- UKG)
Early Years Programme
Maria Montessori's philosophy, particularly her concept of the Absorbent Mind, guides our approach to early childhood education. We understand that young children possess an innate ability to absorb knowledge effortlessly from their surroundings. In our classrooms, which are designed as transparent glass environments for both safety and to foster a sense of openness, children engage in activities that encourage both conscious and unconscious learning.
Montessori Method and IB-PYP Integration
The integration of the Montessori Method with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) allows us to create a dynamic curriculum that respects each child's unique developmental journey. This approach emphasizes hands-on learning, self-directed exploration, and the development of critical thinking skills from a young age.
A House of Children
Geneva Liberal School is not just a school; it is a meticulously prepared environment that mirrors a home-like atmosphere. Inspired by Montessori principles, our classrooms are thoughtfully designed to encourage independence, curiosity, and a love for learning. Here, children naturally absorb the culture of respect, cooperation, and intellectual inquiry that permeates our educational environment.
Transparency, Safety, and Security
Our commitment to transparency is reflected in our use of glass classrooms, which not only promote visibility and openness but also ensure safety and security for all students. These spaces are carefully monitored and designed to create a sense of safety while allowing for natural light and a connection to the outdoors.
At Geneva Liberal School, the Early Years Programme is more than just education; it is a journey of discovery, growth, and preparation for a future filled with confidence and creativity. We invite you to explore our unique approach to early childhood education and discover how we are shaping tomorrow's leaders from their very first steps.
Join us in nurturing young minds and laying the foundation for a lifetime of learning and success.

Assessment
In the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP), student assessments are conducted through both written examinations and school-based tasks. The written exams are administered at the conclusion of the programme and graded by external IB examiners. Additionally, students undertake various assessment tasks within the school. These tasks are initially evaluated by their teachers and then reviewed by external moderators, or they may be sent directly to external examiners for assessment. Each course is graded on a scale from 1 (lowest) to 7 (highest). Students can also earn up to three extra points based on their combined performance in the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course and the Extended Essay (EE).
To receive the IB Diploma, students must accumulate a minimum of 24 points, meeting specific performance criteria across all subjects and participating satisfactorily in the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) component. The maximum score a student can achieve is 45 points. The assessment is criterion-related, meaning students are evaluated against predefined criteria that align with the goals and objectives of each subject's curriculum, rather than being compared to the performance of their peers.
